Golden Year for Guilds

Using facilities in our Best building, home of our Fine Art Department during term times, the Association of Guilds of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers celebrated their Golden Anniversary at Chester this year, holding a week long summer school in early August.

During the event, a range of workshops, evening lectures, a varied choice of courses, and even a trade show and exhibition, were enjoyed by around 200 guild members from across the UK. Our dining facilities also proved to be very popular, with the group enjoying a special gala dinner.

This range of specialist facilities, such as the Art Gallery in the Best building (pictured), means that Chester is one of only a small number of venues that can comfortably cater for such unique events. We are happy to confirm that the North Cheshire Guild of the Association of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers will be making use of the upgraded facilities on our Warrington campus for their ninth biennial conference in 2006.
