Sport Activities Peak in August
Despite the rather wet summer, it has been a busy period for the Conference Office in terms of sports and leisure over recent weeks, with facilities such as the sports hall, astro-turf, swimming pool, fitness suite, grass and gym seeing frequent use by a variety of different groups.
Over the period from late July to the end of August this year, several visits have taken place. Firstly, Kings Camps have once again used our facilities for their ‘activity day camp’ which involved around 500 local children from 5-17 years of age. Also making use of our extensive facilities, Challenger Sports held high quality coaching and practice sessions as part of their ‘elite tour’ for American soccer students, whilst the British Aikido Federation transformed university venues into ‘dojos’ for the highlight of their year, a weeklong summer school. We have even had our own mini-Olympics, with the Deaf Support Foundation holding their event on the university grass! Finally, Chester City FC have recently renewed their contract with the University to make use of our Sealand Road pitches.
Overall, August has proved to be an ideal time for our recreation-based clients to make use of the excellent facilities on offer at the University. |
